Mikhail Gorbachev thought that the world was on the brink of having another cold war, and this was the clash between the West and the East with the fall of the Berlin Wall. With Glasnost the word meant openness and this had shocked many people from the west, but he had announced that they haven't gotten to the point of socialism yet. Among the more consequences of the Cold War was many domestic economies. Since the superpowers carried much of the confrontational burden, both Russia and the United States ended up with economic accountability.
